Independence Day !!~~!!

July 4th is once again upon us, and we celebrate our independence day. Barbeques will be fired up, smokers will be grilling, boats will be on lakes, kids will be swimming, sparklers will be sparkling, and dusk will fall and the fireworks will thunder in the night sky.

Now don’t get me wrong for what you are about to read, I love my country, I love the freedoms that we have, I love the men and women who have fought and died for this country, but some things are terrible wrong.

231 years ago tomorrow our Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia. Written in that declaration was two phrases, “all men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights - Life, Liberty & the pursuit of Happiness”.

Now all of the men signing the declaration, owned slaves and either they or their ancestors had stolen land from the Native Americans. So what men were created equal? Certainly the slaves were not as equal as their masters who were signing the declaration, and the Native Americans were not as equal as the slaves. So who were equal? It seemed that some were more equal than others.

Life, Liberty & the pursuit of Happiness, certainly a slave could not enjoy these things, the master could take the slaves life anytime he wished, the slave did not have liberty and the pursuit of happiness was just a dream. The Native American had all of these things before the Declaration of Independence was written and before the white man had stolen his land.

As the years went on, along came Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves and made more equal to the some. But still the Native American was a second class citizen and was not equal to anyone.

America participated in some wars and went for noble pursuits, WWI and WWII, and the rich fought alongside the poor, the rich lost sons and daughters as much as the poor did. Like the Kennedy family, who lost son Joseph Kennedy when his B-52 bomber went down over Germany, and had son John F Kennedy injured when his boat the PT-109 was sunk in the South Pacific..

Since WWII it seems as though a Good Ole Boys Club was started, and again some were more equal than others. Today you do not see any rich, or senators, or congressmen’s, or cabinet members, or oil tycoons sons or daughters on America’s battle field in Iraq. You will not see any funerals on the news for sons and daughters of these people. We fight to protect oil interests but you don’t see an Oil Tycoons son fighting in the service.

But the Good Ole Boys Club has extended itself. Now there are MANY MORE who are more equal than others……

A little while back, former Congresswoman from Georgia, Cynthia McKinney, slapped a Capitol policeman in the line of duty, not only did she not get arrested for it, but after weeks upon weeks of deliberations of a Grand Jury, she did not even get indicted. Well my friends reading this, you try that, I dare you, HIT a policeman the next time he stops you, NOT only will you be arrested, you will be in leg irons so fast it will make your head spin….. YES my Friends, Some are more equal than others…..

Just this year Hollywood Starlet, Paris Hilton, got caught DUI, got her drivers license suspended. A few months later got caught driving again on a suspended license, and received a slap on the wrist, 45 days in a county jail…. My friends, if you dare, not that I endorse drunk driving, try this, No way if you got caught driving on a DUI suspended license, would YOU receive a slap on the wrist like this……Again some more equal than others !!!!!

Just this week, CNN reports that President Bush commutes the JAIL sentence of former aide to Vice-president Dick Cheney, Lewis 'Scooter' Libby.... While George Bush is at it why doesn't he just commute sentences for Charlie Manson and some others, oh because they are not in the Good Ole Boys Club !!!!! I expected that George was going to commute Libby's sentence, I am just supprised it took this long...... Once again there are those in our country who believe that they are more equal than others.......

Like I said in the beginning of this, don’t get me wrong, I love this country, I love the freedoms that we have, I love the men and women who have fought and died for those freedoms.

But if you ask me, the men and women who are over in Iraq now, and are serving in the armed forces, should be more equal than the pencil pushing Good Ole Boys Club in Washington DC, especially the one who calls himself the Commander in Chief, George Bush….

Just something to think about this 4th of July !!!!!
Just one man’s opinion. As always, put the wind in your hair and keep the sun to your back. Be good and stay safe. Peace, Love and prosperity to all.
